we failed to tell you we hit the road this summer

We did! We drove up to Florence, Oregon, then back to California where we camped at Burney Falls then we drove into Nevada to visit family in Reno and then we drove home to California. It was a shorter trip than last summer but still longer that a weekend getaway. We'll be posting a few photos soon...I hope.

A wander through Fiscalini Ranch in Cambria can be as easy a wander as you like. If not pressed, one can wander the criss-crossing paths for miles. The ocean view, breeze, and air is gorgeous. The pine trees are delightful (save for the pollen flying around), and if you look carefully there are all sorts of critters to be seen. We'll return again in the fall and winter when the green turns to brown and the mushrooms burst out of the ground.

We spent Turkey Day with family in Sequioa National Park. Potwisha is a favorite place. Easy to wander, pretty to boot. If you go, please remember to walk out with what you walked in with. There is sadly far too much litter left behind. Watch out for bears!

We managed a two week road trip across and through six states. Here's a wee peek until we can find the time to write more.

A few weeks ago, the mister, nephew, a sister a-go-go, and I headed out to Baywood Park to hang out with the Baywood Ukulele Social Club. After lunching on yummy sandwiches at The Back Bay Cafe, we headed out to the lawn near the bay to lay out a pair of blankets before settling down for the entertainment. Jim D'Ville, our fearless leader, is a right nifty uke leader. He teaches you to play by ear and encourages even the lamest of us uke players (I'm refering to myself here) to play along. Mister and I did not bring our ukes but will definitely bring them along for the August meeting if we haven't left for our mini road trip. Ukuleles are still proving to be the hipster instrument. Check out your city to see if there is a social club floating about, you never know.

Rodney has retired

 This past Saturday we said goodbye to our faithful car. Rodney was my first new car and did me well these past thirteen years. If the mister and I were a two car household, we would have kept him. Alas, we weren't certain Rodney would get us around the country again in his rickety old age. Farewells were said, weepiness ensued and new wheels were brought into our little family. Sigh. Soon we hope to hit the road again. Not for an enormous trip just yet but plenty of wee ones throughout the year. we a-go-gos miss that open road!
